6.                     Discussion and Background

As part of the City Council approved Park Signage Installation Capital Improvement Project (20437), staff is currently working to complete the portion of the regulatory sign installation which is comprised of installing park and trail rules signs at all park and various trail locations.

Since this portion of the project began, additional signage was requested that was originally not budgeted in the project.  These include a request to install several additional signs in Spanish, signage needed for the new Olive Park auxiliary parking lot, and additional signs needed at the west side bike trail entrance to Hart Park for safety reasons.

Given these factors, the Department will spend approximately $4,100 more with Icon to complete this portion of the project.  The City currently has an existing PO with Icon Signs/RKSK Group, Inc. to fabricate and install the signage.  As a result, staff is requesting the City Council authorize an increase of $4,100 to the existing purchase order with Icon, bringing the total blanket purchase order to $34,100. Funds are currently available in the project budget through the Park Acquisition (Infill) (510).
