6. Discussion and Background
In Fiscal Year 2023-2024 (FY24) the Fire Department purchased the Phoenix G2 alerting platform from US Digital Designs, Inc. (USDD) to implement a system-wide replacement of the alerting systems for Fire Stations 2 through 8. This alerting platform enabled the department to respond to emergency situations with greater speed and efficiency by providing enhanced alerting options, such as customized tones and lighting systems.
This project was originally approved by the City Council in FY24 with installation scheduled for completion within FY24. However, due to a busy wildfire season and staffing constraints from strike team deployments, the project was completed in December 2024, under the FY25 budget. The requested funds for this appropriation cover the final invoice for USDD, materials and supplies, and salaries and benefits for personnel involved in the installation. The total appropriation required to close out this project is $40,088.
