6. Discussion and Background
The City currently has a one-year agreement with Bio Aquatics Lake Management LLC (Bio Aquatics), to provide lake, pond, and stream maintenance services at Eisenhower Park. Eisenhower Park is a destination park, primarily due to the value the lake, pond, and stream contribute to the overall character of the park. Proper maintenance of the water features is important in providing a clean and safe aquatic environment for wildlife (including fish, turtles, birds, etc.), fishing, and the enjoyment of all park visitors. The Community and Library Services Department maintains the lake, pond, and stream through contracted services.
The current one-year agreement for lake, pond, and stream maintenance services expires June 30, 2025. Approval of this first amendment will allow the City’s current contractor, Bio Aquatics, to continue to provide lake, pond, and stream maintenance services from July 1, 2025 until June 30, 2026.
The total amount for this first amendment is $40,040, which includes a 10 percent contingency of $3,640 for unforeseen lake maintenance repairs that may be needed. The amendment will be funded by the General Fund (100). Sufficient funding for this amendment has been programmed in the proposed FY2025-26 operating budget. Approval of this amendment will increase the aggregate agreement total to an amount not to exceed $80,080.
