6.                     Discussion and Background

The City Council approved a 50% reduction in janitorial services effective July 1, 2024. These service reductions significantly impacted the Civic Center, Police Headquarters, and the Main Library. These facilities have several hundred employees and service many members of the public throughout the year. The reduction in janitorial service has created health and sanitation issues for employees and the public that could not be resolved within the reduced scope of service. We are requesting restoration of the full funding for janitorial services to resolve and fund service levels needed for minimum maintenance of these public facilities.
