Based on an agreement with the California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery, the Public Works Department receives an allocation of per-capita grant funds to utilize towards activities related to beverage container recycling.

6. DISCUSSION AND BACKGROUND
The City participates in the Beverage Container Recycling Payment Program administered by the California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle). The City must submit an application to CalRecycle to secure the grant funding, which provides opportunities for local governments to receive funds for beverage container recycling programs.
