Fiscal impact to the City will be determined by the actual billed hours for each project on-call construction inspection services.

6. DISCUSSION AND BACKGROUND
The Public Works Department is currently experiencing a staffing shortage within the Construction Inspection group. Initial efforts to recruit qualified Construction Inspectors have not been successful. With the busy workload in capital improvement projects and development construction including encroachment permit related inspections, staff reached out to three qualified construction inspection firms to provide necessary and needed inspection coverage. After consultations and interviews with the three firms, staff awarded an on-call contract on June 18, 2024, in the amount of $30,000, under the City Manager's authority, to Onward Engineering.
Onward Engineering's total compensation is expected to be exhausted by the end of July 2024. This First Amendment authorizes an increase in the contract amount not to exceed $130,000. The total contract amount is based on estimated time spent on the nu...
