At the January 2024 Park Planning and Community Events Commission Meeting, a policy for Naming of Parks and for Fundraising Efforts for Park Facilities/Amenities was presented. This draft Policy for Naming of New City Parks is the result of the Commission's request to separate the policy into two: one for the Naming of New City Parks and one for Fundraising Efforts for City Park Facilities/Amenities.

6. DISCUSSION AND BACKGROUND
At the October 2023 City Council Meeting, the Council requested staff in collaboration with the Park Planning and Community Events Commission (Commission), recommend a Park Naming Policy outlining criteria and guidelines for naming new City parks and amenities.
At the January 2024 Commission Meeting, a Policy for Naming of Parks and for Fundraising Efforts for Park Facilities/Amenities was presented, however, the Commission requested that staff separate the policy into two: one for the Naming of New City Parks and one for Fundraising Efforts for City Park Facilities/Amenities.
