4.                     Discussion and Background

The Audit Advisory Committee currently holds two regular meetings per year on the first Thursday of February and October. At its July 30, 2026 meeting, the Finance Director proposed increasing the frequency of regular meetings to provide additional opportunities to address matters within the Committee's advisory responsibilities.

The Committee expressed support for increasing the number of regular meetings from two to four per year, with meetings held on the first Thursday of February, May, July, and October. The Committee also supported changing the meeting time to 5:00 p.m. Meetings would continue to be held in the Weimer Room.

Because the Committee's regular meeting schedule is established by City Council resolution, a change to the schedule requires City Council action. Staff is therefore requesting that the Committee formally recommend the revised meeting schedule to the City Council. Upon the Committee's recommendation, staff will present an amended resolution to the City Council for consideration.
