6. Discussion and Background
Staff received a request for the City to consider installing red curb on the northwest corner of the Kendra Drive/Hampshire Road intersection, to enhance visibility and driver comfort. Kendra Drive is a two-lane roadway at its intersection with Hampshire Road. Parking is permitted on the west side of the street. The land use along this stretch of Kendra Drive is generally comprised of single-family residences. Kendra Drive, from Portico Terrace to Cheshire Road, is a 25-mph street.
A field review conducted by City staff determined that there is approximately 170 feet of curbside parking available north of Hampshire Road. In light of the concern and the abundance of available parking, staff recommends that the CTC approve the installation of 25 feet of red curb on the northwest corner, resulting in the loss of approximately one parking space.
